Our Commitment to the Craft and the Land
At Graeber Design, sustainability isn't a marketing buzzword; it’s the standard we’ve lived by for over three decades. We believe that true environmental responsibility starts with the choices we make in the shop every day, from the culture we foster to the raw materials we select. We take immense pride in sourcing the select hardwoods that define our furniture, ensuring every element is as enduring as the design itself.
Sourced with Intention
Our process begins long before the first saw cut. We specialize in premium hardwoods, with a particular focus on the rich Black Walnut and resilient White Oak found throughout the Southern plains. These species are naturally renewable and regenerative. By prioritizing selective harvesting and working with trusted local mills, we ensure that the forests we depend on are growing faster than they are being harvested.
Partners in Quality
Over the last 30 years, we have cultivated deep-rooted relationships with suppliers who share our values. Our partners understand that we aren't just looking for lumber; we are looking for a precious resource that will anchor a family’s home for a century. Many of the trees used in our custom pieces have stood for over 100 years. We treat that history with the respect it deserves, remain mindful of the soil, and always keep an eye on the future of the craft.
A Second Life, Built to Last
We take pride in giving these trees a "second life" as functional art. By employing time-tested joinery and finishing techniques, we ensure lifetime durability. Our goal is to create furniture that never needs to be replaced, effectively ending the cycle of "fast furniture" waste.
From the initial sketch in our Oklahoma shop to the final delivery, our entire process is designed to be as green as the forests our wood comes from. At Graeber Design, we don't just build for today; we build for the next generation.
